With their start-up Saucijs Uniq, students at Inholland University of Applied Sciences developed the Goose Sausage Bite as a product with a good story. Because their boss had his freezer full of geese, the direction of their mission was quickly clear. The unique sausage roll will hit the market before the end of this month.
The students indicate that something must change in the meat industry in the coming years. More and more people are arriving and meat production cannot keep up. In addition, there is a "goose problem," the students say. There is a surplus of wild geese that cause nuisance and attack crops. In 2019 alone, they caused more than 20 million euros of fauna damage in the Netherlands.
And the taste? The students are enthusiastic. It is just a little different and also has a more pleasant aftertaste than the familiar greasy sausage roll, according to the students.
