Born of passion

Saucijs UNIQ started in April 2020 as a school project of the founders, Willemijn and Kirsten, at the Hogeschool Inholland in Delft. During the project, they came up with the idea to convert leftover goose meat from hunters into a sustainable snack, as an alternative to conventional snacks that are often unsustainable and mostly made from meat from intensive livestock farming. 

After much trial and error, they then came up with Saucijs UNIQ. Small bite-sized goose bites coated in crispy butter puff pastry. The idea caught on and within six months they had sold at least 2000 goose borrelbites to hotels, restaurants and consumers. After graduating, Willemijn and Kirsten decided to continue developing their product together and set up their own company.

Team Saucijs UNIQ is currently three men strong. Willemijn, Kirsten and Job work day in and day out to make the Netherlands' many drink cards a bite more sustainable. We do a quick round of introductions to get to know those wild geese of Saucijs UNIQ.

Food Innovation (2021)

Saucijs UNIQ won the award for the most sustainable food project of 2021 at the FICA Winter Event. This event focuses on promoting sustainable initiatives in the food industry. Saucijs UNIQ presented their sustainable goose bites and their vision for sustainability and was ultimately chosen as the winner by an expert jury.

 

The jury praised Saucijs UNIQ for their innovative products and commitment to sustainability. Saucijs UNIQ's goose bites are made from wild goose meat, which is a sustainable alternative to other meat that often comes from intensive livestock farming. In addition, Saucijs UNIQ uses as many local and organic ingredients as possible and packages the products in sustainable packaging.

 

Saucijs UNIQ was honored to win this award and considers it recognition for their hard work and dedication to sustainability. Winning the award has motivated them to continue with their mission to produce sustainable meat products and promote the use of sustainable and responsible products in the food industry.

Ecotrophelia

Food Innovation (2021)

Saucijs UNIQ won second place at Ecotrophelia 2021, the Dutch preliminary round of the European student competition for the most innovative food concept. Ecotrophelia is a prestigious competition for students in the food industry to develop innovative and sustainable products. Saucijs UNIQ participated with their sustainable goose breast bites, which are made from wild goose meat and traditionally baked puff pastry.

 

The Saucijs UNIQ team was delighted to learn that they had won second place in the Dutch preliminary round of the competition. They were especially pleased with the recognition for their commitment to sustainability and innovation in the food industry.

Young Entrepreneurship

Food Innovation (2021)

Saucijs UNIQ won second place at the 2021 Jong Ondernemen Pitch Heroes event. Jong Ondernemen is a non-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship among students in the Netherlands. The Pitch Heroes event is an annual event where teams of student entrepreneurs can present their business ideas to a jury of experts and investors.

 

The Saucijs UNIQ team presented their sustainable goose bites during the event. They explained how the product was created and how it contributes to sustainability in the food industry. They received a lot of positive feedback from the judges, who were impressed by the innovative nature of the product and the team's commitment to sustainability.

 

In the end, Saucijs UNIQ won second place in the event. The team was pleased with the feedback they had received from the judges, which helped them to further improve their product and business strategy. This second place was an important milestone for Saucijs UNIQ. It gave the team recognition and visibility in the entrepreneurial world and opened doors for further growth and development of the company.

Mission

Saucijs UNIQ's mission is to make sustainable and flavorful products that contribute to a better world. By using wild goose meat caught as part of population management, the company contributes to wildlife conservation and reducing the nuisance of geese in the Netherlands. Saucijs UNIQ also has an eye for sustainable production methods and strives to minimize food waste. The goose sausage bites are artisanally prepared and contain only natural ingredients, making them not only sustainable, but also high quality and flavorful.

Vision

Saucijs UNIQ's vision is to contribute to a more sustainable world by offering high-quality and flavorful products, with respect for people, animals and nature at their core. The company wants to raise awareness around sustainability by selling their products and sharing their story. Saucijs UNIQ would like to contribute to creating a circular economy and reducing food waste. By using wild goose meat caught as part of population management, the company wants to show that sustainable and responsible food can go hand in hand with conservation and animal welfare.
